Si Dixon
Si was one of the original five Jelly Surprize players from the first ever match. He also, along with Tony and Jezz, founded the club. For most of lifetime of the club he was the nominal manager. This only once involved actually picking a team, for most games it just involved getting people to turn up and hitting Harris with a rolled up newspaper.
His paternal grandfather was Puerto Rican leading him to have a somewhat fiery Latin temperament on the pitch. He also lived with gypsies in Southern Spain until he was 15 and learnt to play football by kicking pigs.
He was one of only two players (the other being Amarjit) to consistently appear throughout all of the seven seasons that Jelly Surprize played at the Connexion. Also featuring in the two summer tournaments played at the University of Birmingham.
He played in goal for most of those games, his finest hour being the historic cup run, in which he saved 3 penalties (out of 4) in two shootouts to send the team into the final. He was plagued by hypochondria throughout his career, which was made worse by actually suffering the occasional injury. He often refused to leave the pitch with phantom fractures and bogus dislocated bones. There was also a degree of escalation with Amarjit about exactly what injuries the pair of them had suffered. Before one game this reach such a fever pitch that the game was forfeited due to both players claiming to be suffering from leprosy and irritable bowel syndrome.
