Right. Bit of background info to get us started. Jelly Surprize Football Club was established in 1998 by three visionaries; Tony O'Sullivan, Jezz Manners and Si Dixon. In the beginning the roles were clear; Jezz led on the pitch, Si collected the money and Tony drove people to the games. To cut a long story short, one of these pioneers was unhappy with just collecting the money and set out to establish "Jelly Surprize" the global brand. The lack of any kind of product has hampered this somewhat, but not one to let that get in the way he soldiers on in a bizarre world of his own. Jelly Surprize are an ameteur football team, very ameteur. At the moment we are not involved in any leagues, and don't play regularly anymore. So unfortunately you can't come and watch us play. We used to play every Tuesday night at the Cov Connexion in a 4-a-side league. It's a bit like 5-a-side but with less players. The 'courts' were completely enclosed nets, a little bit like that thing in Mad Max: Beyond the thunderdome, but sadly without Tina Turner, or a possibly like a big net box. We started off playing in division 8, and were reasonably successfull; winning our league in one season and also reaching an unlikely cup final. The logo above is our old one that Si made on paintshop in a retro 70's style. |

![]() This is our brand spanking new logo. | What made us unique though was the way we played the game. The best way to describe it would be a fancy Nike advert full of tricks, but instead of Brazilians you've got a bunch of slightly unhealthy student types from the Midlands. Most good teams will get a few goals in front and then start showboating and doing tricks. We started showboating and doing tricks from the first whistle. Only we weren't very good at it. So there'd be lots of outlandish manouvers that would end up going horribly wrong. Tony would try and score an own goal from inside the opposition half, Jezz would have an open goal to aim for and hit a vertical shot into the roof. Amarjit would start trying outlandish overhead volleys, Andy would nutmeg someone then floor them, just for good measure, Si would get really annoyed, unless he wasn't playing in goal, when he would try huge stepovers the opposition could read from a mile off. In short we had a lot of fun playing football, and baffled everyone. |

Don't worry about the demise of such a legendary team though. We still see each other all the time. Well we haven't seen Mya in a while, and I haven't heard from Rob or Chris in ages. Leave a message on the guestbook guys. Hopefully we'll be getting back together soon for a testamonial match. Check out the Meet The Team page to see more pictures of the players. | ![]() Tim, Jezz and Andy having way too much fun. | |
